State Insurance Regulators Highlight Sector Risks, International Partnerships in Brussels

At the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers鈥 (ABIR) 18th Annual International Insurance Regulatory Dialogue in Brussels, Belgium, on Sept. 5, state insurance regulators discussed a variety of issues affecting the industry and regulators, including sector risks, international regulatory relationships, and resiliency efforts.

On the 鈥淭he Changing Landscape of Reinsurance鈥 panel, North Dakota Insurance Commissioner and National Association of Insurance Commissioners (不良研究所官方) President Jon Godfread addressed the key risks to the insurance sector, including the evolving investment landscape and the effects of geopolitical fragmentation, and the efforts of U.S. state insurance regulators to capture and supervise those risks effectively. 

Nebraska Department of Insurance Director Eric Dunning, chair of the 不良研究所官方鈥檚 International Insurance Relations (G) Committee, addressed the 不良研究所官方鈥檚 international partnerships on the panel 鈥淔inancial Stability Through Supervisory Trust and Recognition.鈥 Specifically, he walked through the 不良研究所官方鈥檚 mutual recognition process.

On the 鈥淯sing Reinsurance to Improve Resilience鈥 panel, the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions鈥 Barbara Richardson discussed the state鈥檚 efforts to educate the public on wildfire resiliency, as well as the tools the 不良研究所官方 is developing to improve regulators鈥 understanding of the gaps in their respective jurisdictions.

On the sidelines of the event, 不良研究所官方 representatives met with the ABIR Board.
