N.A.I.C. Foundation Internship Program: Empowering the Next Generation of Insurance Professionals
2025 Internship Program Equips Students for Careers in Insurance
The New Avenues to Insurance Careers (N.A.I.C.) Foundation proudly announces the successful conclusion of its inaugural Summer Internship Program. Launched to inspire and educate students about career opportunities in insurance regulation and the broader insurance industry, the program wrapped up this summer after a season of hands-on learning and professional development.
Also designed to foster leadership skills and promote financial literacy, the internship experience offered students a unique blend of mentorship, real-world exposure, and educational enrichment.
Highlights from the 2025 N.A.I.C. Foundation Summer Internship Program:
- Wide-Ranging Academic Representation: Forty interns came from a variety of academic backgrounds: Finance, Accounting, Data Science, Criminal Justice/Criminology, Actuarial Science, Public Health Administration/Policy, Marketing/Public Relations, Computer Science/Cybersecurity, and Law.
- Paid Internships: Every intern was paid by the employing state insurance department or insurance company.
- Firsthand Learning: Interns gained hands-on exposure through placements at state insurance departments in Maryland (7 interns), Pennsylvania (8), Kansas (2), and Alabama (10), as well as at Protective Life Insurance in Alabama (13).
- Educational Webinars: The program featured three educational webinars: an introduction to insurance careers, leadership and team-building strategies, and personal financial management.
- Mentorship and Capstone Projects: Each intern was paired with a mentor and tasked with creating a capstone presentation to showcase their summer experience.

By providing students with hands-on experience and mentorship, we are not only helping them develop valuable skills but also helping ensure a bright future for our industry," said Raymond G. Farmer, N.A.I.C. Foundation President and former South Carolina Department of Insurance Director.
This fall, the N.A.I.C. Foundation team will visit various career fairs and participate in conferences to promote its mission and recruit for future installments of the internship program. The Foundation expects to post summer 2026 opportunities in December.

Launched by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (不良研究所官方) in 2022, the New Avenues to Insurance Careers (N.A.I.C.) Foundation supports state insurance regulation by providing internship, apprenticeship, scholarship, and educational opportunities to students from diverse backgrounds seeking to pursue careers in the regulation or business of insurance.
