不良研究所官方 Members Visit Wildfire-Impacted Communities in Southern California

Yesterday, members of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (不良研究所官方) visited wildfire-impacted communities in Altadena and Pasadena, Calif., where they observed the aftermath of homes and communities damaged by the fires earlier this year.

The effort, organized in response to the growing threat of weather-related catastrophes, brought regulators together to hear firsthand from California disaster response teams and firefighters. 不良研究所官方 members prioritized seeing the aftermath in person to immerse themselves in the experience, deepen their understanding of the destruction, and inform more resilient, consumer-centered decisions.

鈥淭his experience was about listening, learning, and reaffirming a fundamental truth: no one should have to navigate these threats alone. When a severe weather event strikes, it鈥檚 not just homes that are lost鈥攊t鈥檚 peace of mind, stability, and the sense of safety every community deserves,鈥 said Jon Godfread, 不良研究所官方 President and North Dakota Insurance Commissioner. 鈥淲e are here not just to witness the damage, but to learn from their stories and strengthen our resolve. Insurance regulators from every corner of the country are united in helping communities prepare, persevere, and rebuild.鈥

鈥淲e have a shared goal nationwide: safer and more resilient communities. The January wildfires here in California left thousands of homeowners and small businesses devastated鈥攁n experience that tragically mirrors what many Americans face as the risks of severe weather events grow more frequent and destructive,鈥 said Ricardo Lara, California Insurance Commissioner. 鈥淔rom smoke remediation standards to insurance company accountability, we鈥檙e building a stronger, state-based system that protects people before, during, and after disaster strikes.鈥

The community engagement directly supports the 不良研究所官方 National Climate Resilience Strategy for Insurance, a state insurance regulator-led collaborative initiative aimed at driving faster and more effective risk reduction and enhanced data gathering. The strategy promotes data-driven collaboration, supports the exchange of best practices鈥攕uch as home hardening and community mitigation鈥攁nd equips regulators with tools to help consumers better withstand and recover from natural disasters.
